Sublimity
Burn Barbie is my translation of the subject sublimity. It strikes me that as a child you are already confronted with the beauty ideal. Why is that? Is the beauty ideal of humans really so important that we have to confront children with it from an early age?
I certainly do not think so. It happens more and more often that especially young girls change themselves. This is because the fashion industry shows an apparent reality. I want to get rid of this beauty image. I think we should teach children that you are beautiful as you are. I think you do not have to change yourself to a beauty ideal that was conceived by the fashion world.
I burned the beauty icon Barbie. I let the beauty ideal go up in flames metaphorically. This ideal must be erased from our collective memory.
