Assignment: Apparent reality
According to the philosopher Plato, reality is something that we ourselves believe in.
He demonstrated this by placing ignorant prisoners in front of a wall, without knowing that what they saw was being projected. Because of this, the prisoner believed that the projection was reality. He showed that we are going to believe in a reality if we do not know better.
I want to translate this philosophical statement into the present tense.
I found out that we often see ourselves differently on social media than how we actually feel. We often only share the fun and happy moments of our lives. This gives people a distorted view of reality.
I want to raise awareness with this installation. The dummy shows how we actually feel, but when we put ourselves in the spotlight, we only show our happy side.

Try it yourself, put a glance on your reality.
